My Vision & How To Get There

West Vancouver is a remarkable community defined by its natural beauty, vibrant neighbourhoods, and strong sense of connection. Like many communities we regularly discuss complex topics like housing, transportation, climate resilience and long-term infrastructure planning.

My vision is to support thoughtful planning that protects what we value while preparing for the future—ensuring diverse housing options, improving transportation choices, protecting our natural environment, and fostering a welcoming community where residents of all ages and abilities can live, work, and thrive.

THOUGHTFUL HOUSING OPTIONS

West Vancouver needs housing choices that allow people to remain in the community at different stages of life while protecting the character of our neighbourhoods.

Key actions

  • Support diverse housing options including infill, rental, missing-middle housing, and mixed-use development

  • Encourage housing close to transit, village centres, and services

  • Protect neighbourhood identity and heritage assets

  • Support aging-in-place housing options so residents can remain in the community as their needs change

Outcome

A community where young families, seniors, and long-time residents can continue to live in West Vancouver.

IMPROVE TRANSPORTATION OPTIONS

Transportation planning should improve mobility while supporting sustainability and accessibility.

Key actions

  • Advocate with provincial and federal partners for improved transit and regional transportation investments

  • Improve safety and access for pedestrians, cyclists, and people with mobility challenges

  • Support car-sharing and low-emission transportation options

  • Strengthen connections between neighbourhoods, village centres, parks, and services

Outcome

More convenient, safe, and sustainable ways for residents to move around the community.

PROTECT OUR NATURAL ENVIRONMENT

Our natural environment is one of West Vancouver’s greatest strengths and must be protected for future generations.

Key actions

  • Protect green spaces, forests, streams, and environmentally sensitive areas

  • Continue restoration and enhancement projects along the foreshore and within local watersheds

  • Strengthen climate resilience planning for extreme weather and sea-level rise

  • Implement climate action through the Climate Action Strategy & the Community Energy & Emissions Plan

Outcome

A healthy natural environment that supports biodiversity and strengthens community resilience.

SUPPORT COMMUNITY & QUALITY OF LIFE

Strong communities are built through connections, culture, recreation, and active local organizations.

Key actions

  • Support arts, culture, recreation, and local businesses

  • Strengthen partnerships with community organizations and volunteers

  • Encourage youth engagement and civic participation

  • Foster inclusive public spaces that work for residents of all ages and abilities

Outcome

A vibrant, welcoming community where residents feel connected and supported.

RESPONSIBLE LEADERSHIP & FINANCIAL STEWARDNESS

Good governance requires careful planning, transparent decision-making, and responsible financial management.

Key actions

  • Support long-term planning for infrastructure and community facilities

  • Maintain responsible financial stewardship and respect for taxpayers

  • Communicate clearly with residents about municipal initiatives and decisions

  • Work collaboratively with Council, staff, and community members

Outcome

A well-managed municipality that plans responsibly for the future.
